10 Fan-Made Video Game Remakes That Were Better Than The Original
9. Final Fantasy VII NES
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foY1eCqXP5g After nearly two decades, Final Fantasy VII is still considered to be the finest game in the long-running franchise so any fan remake will have to be the greatest thing ever made to stand any chance in succeeding the original. Well, the unofficial Final Fantasy VII NES port may have done it in the oddest way possible. Some time after the release of the original FFVII, the Chinese group, ShenZhen Nanjing Technology, decided to remake the entire thing. But instead of bestowing the remake with cutting edge graphics or new features, the team decide to see if they could fit the entire game, story and all, into an 8-bit NES cartridge. This is probably more of a 'de-make' than a remaster, but the shocking thing is that it all works pretty damn well. Despite some obvious difficulties, the team managed to squeeze the entire story, the entire game world, and all the main characters into a 2D sprite-filled world. There are a few gameplay issues, namely the game being far more difficult than the original, and battles taking a long time to complete, but critics and fans marvelled at how much it impressively rivals all the Final Fantasy games that were originally released on the NES. Surprisingly, Square Enix didn't care enough about this fan remake to issue a cease and desist, but you can't help but feel the positive fan-reaction played some part in getting the upcoming FFVII HD-remake greenlit.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
