10 Fan-Made Video Game Remakes That Were Better Than The Original

8. Pokemon Fusion Evolution

After starting with 'only' 150 creatures for you to 'catch them all', the Pokémon series has since escalated to an astonishing 700+ list of creatures that includes an ice cream cone, a love heart, an interlocking pair of gears - and a literal pile of garbage. Some fans clearly thought the creators were desperately running out of ideas for the series, and there decided to do something constructive before anything truly terrible could sully the franchise's good name. By channeling the hundreds of creatures already in existence into something new, fans created Pokemon Fusion Evolution, a remake that's equal parts awesome and horrifying. This game focuses on creating new Pokemon through genetic fusion, meaning literally any combination of Pokemon you can think of can be fused together. Mr Mime and Magikarp? No worries. Togepi and Muk? Perfectly doable. Furthermore, the story is something out of a Resident Evil game: Bill, the mad scientist from the first few games, has managed to fuse Pokemon together, but his new technology has leaked out into the world and it's up to you to help him. Honestly, that's a better premise than 'be the greatest Pokemon trainer ever', but don't let all this scare you away from playing the game. The remake is still essentially a Pokemon game at its core, but with a crazy amount of new strategies and play-styles due to the sheer number of creature combinations available. So, if you're up for a game that takes an already impressive library of creatures and expands them in the best way possible, this game is definitely for you.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
