8. The Mysterious Forest/Cats From The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess Trailer

Despite coming out at a time when having both "twilight" and "princess" in its title would have otherwise turned away the coveted teenage male demographic, The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess received tons of praise upon its 2006 release, with a lot of that being thanks to a vast, expansive version of Hyrule. But even with a huge world to explore, some who had been following the game during its development were a little disappointed at one area's omission.

A trailer released by Nintendo for the 2005 Game Developers Conference included a vast forest that appeared to be freely explorable.

The forest included a mysterious, ancient-looking statue of unknown purpose, but as always, the Internet was mostly interested in cats.

Yes, the forest was apparently home to a group (a pride? a murder?) of cats, and the trailer showed Link interacting with them in various ways. Presented with a game that allowed them to wield a sword of arcane power against a giant tarantula-cyclops, the Internet was busy speculating about what you could do with those cats.

The feline interactions (and the forest) were ultimately removed from the final game, leaving us with nothing more than an epic, world-spanning fantasy-adventure.
