DMA Design’s Body Harvest may be the most ambitious game ever attempted on the Nintendo 64. The studio, which would later go on to become Rockstar North and have a hand in many of the games in the Grand Theft Auto series, first laid out their open-world game ambitions on Nintendo’s underpowered hardware, and it was an incredible technological feat.

Body Harvest focused primarily on vehicular combat against giant insectoid aliens, which sounds like a ludacris concept from the get-go. However, Nintendo liked the idea so much that they gave it a green light despite an uninformative design document and limited understanding of the technical specifications.

It turned out to be an awesome game which allowed players to traverse an expansive open world, a feature that was still in its infancy at the time. Like battling giant aliens across the entirety of Hyrule Field, Body Harvest remains something for every fan of Rockstar Games to check out in 2018.
