10 Funniest Side-Quests In Video Games
1. The Don - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
Borderlands has always been known for its twisted sense of humour, but with The Pre-Sequel, the games’ Aussie developers put their own spin on the formula, resulting in a right old jaffa of a quest.
‘The Don’ tasks you with helping an oddly dressed gent win a game of ‘Snick-it,’ which involves slogging a ball into the wild blue yonder while running back and forth and spouting the kind of addled gibberish best described as drunken accounting.
But it’s that very nonsense that makes it funny.
Because everything from the name, ‘Snick-it’ (obviously ‘Cricket,’ but also a reference to the feather-light contact between ball and bat) to the gleeful digs at the game’s nigh impenetrable jargon (‘We’re 2 for 184 against in the 40th over’) and the eccentric quirks of the rules (you get the other team in, so that you can get them out, so that you can get in), are lovingly crafted wisecracks that will have any fan of the game in stitches.
Sure, if you’re not a fan you’ll be left baffled, but if you are then this will be the funniest, and the best, video game quest you’ll ever embark on.
