10 GameCube Games We Need To See On Nintendo Switch
5. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
In an ideal world, Nintendo fans would be blessed with the Wii U’s HD remaster of this glorious adventure. Graphical updates aside, there were notable quality of life upgrades - namely streamlining the triforce quest - which made the shiny new Wind Waker arguably the definitive copy.
We’re still waiting for that, though (and acutely aware the company would sell it at full price), so us Zelda completists would settle for a simple port. In fairness, Wind Waker has aged better than about any game in the franchise due to its beautiful cell shaded graphics - they were derided at the time, but Shigeru et al have had the last laugh.
This swashbuckling adventure feels the most natural precursor to Breath Of The Wild with its awe inspiring scale and emphasis on adventure. The Great Sea is one of the finest playgrounds the developers ever invented, full of peril, plunder, and wonder.
Add to that the surprisingly refined combat and genuinely deep characters (the best Ganondorf ever) and this is a top tier title in a top tier franchise. Remastered or no, it’s a journey we want to take again.
