10 GameCube Games We Need To See On Nintendo Switch

6. Wario World

The portly garlic enthusiast has cut out a niche of his own on recent Nintendo consoles. The Wario Ware series is a giddy blast, and the most recent collection of microgames is sure to delight and infuriate players of the current generation.

Wario’s platforming roots, though, have sadly been sidelined, which is nothing short of a travesty. His GameBoy games were curious hits, but his sole GameCube outing is the one that needs reviving. Wario World saw the mustachioed antihero let loose on the third dimension, and he stomped and barged his way through a short but sweet adventure that we’d love to play again.

Nintendo’s first party platform titles are solid gold pretty much without fail, and while this lacks the scope of a Super Mario Sunshine, in true Wario style it’s a giddy, greedy thrill. Wario’s not the deepest of characters - he’s powered by spite and a lust for treasure - but he appeals to the id of every player. Sometimes it’s fun to cast aside the shackles of the hero and simply run around some gaudy worlds snatching up gems and shoulder tackling folk. We are all Wario deep down, and it would do us good to admit it.
