10 Games That Are Bordering on Physically Addictive

6. The Sims

The makers of the Sims are pure evil. That is not because of the gaming experience itself. The foundations on which the game is based upon are fantastic, allowing the gamer to run the lives of a person/family of "Sims" towards glory or failure. There is no pressure on the player to benefit their character, which allows their creative freedom to run wild. The number of famous families, such as the Simpsons or the Flintstones, that have been re-imagined in Sims form has added a popular culture to this game that was unique at the time of its release in 2000. Sims 3 is a brilliant visual spectacle, with the emotions of your dependents becoming more diverse and spectacular, the life goals and careers more interesting to accomplish. And, as always, the communication between the characters has always kept its followers amused for years on end. So why are Electronic Arts and lead designer Will Wright evil? It is because this game, in the wrong hands, could destroy a person's sense of accomplishment. I'm sure that many who have played the game have seen the happiness of their Sims in their profession and have been encouraged to pursue their own life goals. But, the game more than actively encourages people to forgo their own life experiences and instead transfer them onto their virtual counterparts. You want to be a professional athlete, or scientist, or ruthless businessman? Then instead of working for years, honing your skills and achieving those feats in reality, you can spend a few hours watching your Sim become successful, rich and fulfilled - everything that the gamer sadly isn't. Your Sim will discover new experiences and relationships, suffer their fair share of mistakes and triumphs, while you sit at your screen instructing their growth. Perhaps the world would benefit if we were all characters in a massive game of Sims, and so we could rely on somebody to achieve our goals with the click of a mouse. This is not to mention the expansion packs available for the Sims, when the developers become figurative whores of teenage allowances, as they quench their thirst to be an extra in Twilight with the Supernatural expansion pack, or pretend to be buried head first in Katy Perry's bosom with her sweet treat bonuses. Instead of saving their money, these gamers will eventually have to tear themselves into a world where Simoleons aren't legal tender. Congratulations Miss Perry, the ambitions of addicted Sims gamers lie broken by your dainty hands.
