10 Games That Need To Be Included On A Nintendo Game Boy Mini

2. The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Prior to Breath of the Wild's release, I took it upon myself to rank every Zelda title. The fairy-frolic which snatched the podium was somewhat controversial, but I stick by it.

Simply put, Link's Awakening is amongst the greatest games ever made. It's so much more than 'just' a handheld game - the very best of Zelda condensed into one of most the most carefully constructed, unremittingly entertaining, and even emotionally affecting adventures of all time.

It has everything. A dead rooster revivified with an ancient ocarina. A chain-chomp going walkies through a swamp. A giant fish, whose dreams might be more significant than you realise. Yes, the Game Boy Color's ameliorated DX edition is unquestionably the definitive version of My Little Link, but both are unputtdownable gems absolutely everybody needs to play. So quite good, then.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
