10 Games That Will Inevitably Disappoint Us All In 2013

5. Elder Scrolls Online

I always said to myself that if anyone ever decided to take an Elder Scrolls game on-line it wouldn't work, now that they've actually decided to do it though it's going to be fun to see my predication come through.

it's not going to be because the game will be bad, far from it. Morrowind was by all accounts an amazing game, Oblivion was even better and Skyim was....well the other two were good enough. The issue is, for an on-line game it's not new and there's too much competition. There will be of course a group of die-hard fans who will subscribe/buy it but this won't be enough. Bioware has shown that when it comes to on-line gaming, having a large and loyal fan-base out there isn't enough. The issue is, is that there are just far too many MMORPGs out there, most of which are free. The online gaming community are a fickle lot and are quick to change the games they like to play. Sure they're rubbing their noses against your hand and purring softly now as you give them catnip, but within minutes they're begging to be let out of the room, then back in, then out, then in. WoW has pretty much got a monopoly on fantasy based MMORPGs and games such as Guild Wars 2, Tera and Rift are fighting a fierce battle for 2nd place. Throw in the fact that you have Korean companies popping out free MMORPGs close to every day and there's just no room for Elder Scrolls. People will buy it of course, it's a game series that stretches for many years and we all want to know more about the world of Tamriel and its history, but after the initial hype you're going to see users dropping away just like they did with Star Wars: The Old Republic. Elders Scrolls Online may have fans, but with fierce competition and long standing on-line games I doubt it's going to pull through.
