10 Gaming Franchises That Desperately Need A Reboot
2. Advent Rising
Advent Rising was a very ambitious game when it was released back in 2005. It was meant to be the start of an epic space opera trilogy chronicling the war against an alien race called The Seekers who intended to eradicate the human race for unknown reasons.
The story was praised and, with a cliffhanger ending, fans were hyped to see where it was going.
Unfortunately, after the release, the game was heavily criticized for its visual style and having a large of amount of bugs. Gamers complained that freezing was a common occurrence as well as AI problems and glitches. All of this resulted in poor sales and eventually, the trilogy was scrapped.
Die-hard fans of the game continue to argue in the game's defense, stating that it introduced some great ideas and the third-person combat was very innovative for the time.
Even though the story did continue in comic book format, fans felt like this was a bitter-sweet resolution. The game's lead designer Donald Mustard has gone on record stating that he "would be happy to finish the Advent series if the opportunity presented itself."
Well, can someone give him the opportunity?
