10 Gaming Franchises That Desperately Need A Reboot
1. Jet Set Radio
No other game on this list has had more of a unique style than Jet Set Radio. While the first game received critical acclaim, it's the sequel Jet Set Radio Future that nostalgic gamers remember the most. This is most likely due to the game being ported to the popular Xbox console for free in 2002.
Jet Set Radio was the first game to introduce the cell-shading visual style and incorporated skating mechanics with the idea of spraying graffiti across streets of Tokyo-to. It also incorporated combat where you knock down enemies and spray paint them into submission. It was silly but in all the right ways.
Each game followed the GG gang battling rival gangs for territory while also standing up to the authority of the Rokkaku Police force. The first game was remastered in 2012 to less than stellar reviews, showing that the game might not have aged that well in 12 years. This is probably why, even though a sequel was set up at the end of JSFR, Sega ultimately decided against it.
Despite this, fans are still holding out hope that Sega will finally put the Sonic franchise on hold and give them something worth getting excited about.
