10 Gods We Need To See In SMITE In 2021
3. Hanuman
Pantheon: Hindu
The Hindu God Hanuman is one of the companions of Rama, depicted as an Ape-Man called a Vanara in Hindu mythology. Hanuman is one of the Chiranjivi, a group of immortals who will remain alive until the end of the current Kali Yuga in the year 428,899 CE (in 426,878 years time). Hanuman plays a pivotal role in ‘Ramayana’, an ancient Hindu epic. He has also been represented as the patron god of martial arts, meditation and scholarship.
Hanuman has wide array of divine powers that, as a child, he commonly used to perform pranks on people. One day, however, a sage that he pranked cursed Hanuman to forget about his powers. This is later undone by Jambavan, the great bear, as Hanuman and he are at the southern tip of India searching for Rama’s lost wife Sita. After Hanuman recalls his powers, he is able to grow to a massive size and jump from India to Lanka (modern day Sri Lanka). Hanuman later serves as a general in Rama’s army during the battle of Lanka against the demon king Ravana.
Both Rama and Ravana are playable gods in SMITE. Sun Wukong,
the Monkey King of the Chinese pantheon, is also playable in SMITE, and is
thought to be inspired by the Vanara. Hanuman has a wide array of abilities
that would make him a great addition to the cast of SMITE.
