10 Great Games with TERRIBLE DLC

4. Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Resident Evil Village DLC
Ubisoft

When it comes to Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft often puts almost as much effort in its bonus material as the game itself. The additional missions in AC III endowed our hero with newfound powers, completely changing the gameplay. Black Flag's DLC allowed you to play as different heroes, gaining great insight into the overarching narrative.

Even though Odyssey is among the best entries in years, Ubisoft dropped the ball with the downloadable mission, Legacy of the First Blade. Many players found the gameplay repetitive and lacking innovation, since many mechanics are recycled from the base game. This led to a sense of monotony, as players engaged in similar activities without fresh experiences to maintain engagement.

What's worse is technical problems plagued Legacy of the First Blade, leading to performance issues, quest glitches, and crashes. The DLC's integration of micro-transactions also detracted from the experience, since players were expected to pay extra... after already paying extra.

Fortunately, the developers learned from their mistakes, since the next two DLCs were solid and glitch-free. However, Legacy of the First Blade turned out so poorly, it should've been free.
