10 Great Video Game Reboots (That Failed Anyway)

3. Wolfenstein (2009)

World War 2 was once the premium setting for shooters; if the game didn't have at least one Normandy sequence and a ton of Nazis to shoot at then it simply wasn't worth the time. And when it came to Nazi killing there was no franchise more adept than Wolfenstein.

Even though the franchise has enjoyed major success in the last few years - let's not mention Youngblood - there was another, earlier attempt to reboot the aging B.J Blaskowicz. The only problem with Wolfenstein (2009) was that it was just so generic, and everything about the game screamed basic. This was a far cry away from the techno-magic Nazis players would come to see just a few short years later.

Still, underneath all of the beige was an intense and damned fun first person shooter. Couple that with some interesting magic abilities and a nice amount of gun customization and it's a wonder Wolfenstein (2009) didn't pick up quite as well as it could have.

Sure it didn't have Hitler pissing blood into a bucket, but not everything can be perfect now can it?
