10 Great Video Game Villains Who Were Totally Wasted

5. Nemesis - Resident Evil 3 Remake

Resident Evil 3's Nemesis is one of the most iconic and terrifying video game antagonists of all time, an unrelenting stalker who doggedly pursues Jill Valentine throughout the game.

And so, fans were excited to see how Capcom would update the character for 2020's remake, only for the end result to feel like a majorly missed opportunity.

Beyond Resident Evil 3 Remake drastically cutting down the original game's exploration of Raccoon City, it also hugely reduces Nemesis' role.

Most of his encounters are heavily scripted this time around, and he's largely absent for the middle of the story.

And so, Nemesis lacks the pulse-quickening intensity of his presentation in the original game, where he's basically like a rabid dog who just won't stop chasing you down.

Nemesis was genuinely scary and a consistent threat in the original, whereas in the rushed, tossed-off remake he feels more like an occasional inconvenience.

All the material was there to make Nemesis 2.0 even better than the O.G., especially with how the series' gameplay has evolved over the decades, but Capcom absolutely whiffed it.
