Uncharted 4 introduced us to yet another memorable Naughty Dog character, Nadine Ross. While acting as Drake's adversary for the most of the game's run time, her motives and actions are put into question come the climax. In the standalone title, Lost Legacy however, she won over the hearts of a fanbase.

Starting off as your run-of-the-mill mercenary, Ross put series lead Nathan Drake through the ringer in the fourth game. Inheriting her father’s business, Shoreline, she is hired by bad-guy Rafe Adler to stop Drake at all costs. While she sticks to this goal for the bulk of the title, come the end she begins to doubt herself.

Being one of the few characters in the game to throw in the towel, she realises no amount of money is worth all that risk. This first glimpse of her humanity is developed ten fold in the sequel through her relationship with Chloe Frazer. She goes from treasure-hunter to a woman with a revenge quest to a full blown hero by the game's climax. Her arc is rare, especially in video games, and adds depth to what initially seemed like such a one sided character.

The juxtaposition between refusing to help Adler at the end in Uncharted 4 to her risking everything to stop a bomb come the sequel’s climax proves just how much she has grown in such a short time. As if The Lost Legacy didn’t already have so much to love, Nadine Ross is truly the icing on the globe-trotting cake.
