10 Greatest Video Game Cult Heroes Of All Time

2. Special Agent Francis York Morgan - Deadly Premonition

The second FBI agent to make this list thankfully built up his reputation through more than sex and violence. Deadly Premonition is a bizarre survival horror game that controls awfully, and is filled with more glitches than a Bethesda RPG on Day One. But these traits are part of what makes Deadly Premonition endearing. It's also loved for its awesomely bizarre storyline and cast of characters, which can best be described as a bonkers fusion between Twin Peaks and Metal Gear Solid. Psychic FBI Agent Francis York Morgan leads this wonderful freakshow. He carries out investigations by looking for messages in his morning coffee, and talks to an alter-ego called Zach to aid him. This leads him to utter brilliant lines of dialogue like "Do you feel it, Zach ? My coffee warned me about it." Throughout the game, as he investigates murders and fights weird backwards zombie-creatures, Morgan also develops a taste for Turkey, Jam and Cereal Sandwiches (aka Sinners Sandwich), which has gone on to become a favourite food for YouTubers to replicate in real life. That's right, Morgan's actually inspired a real-life food. In the real world, Morgan would be destined for a lifetime of straight-jackets and heavy chemical sedation, but in Deadly Premonition he's a volatile genius (think Will Graham from Hannibal, but less tortured) who has become one of gaming's most loved cult icons.
