10 Greatest Ever Video Game DLC That Didn't Steal Your Money
6. Artorias Of The Abyss - Dark Souls
Originally available only with the 'Prepare to Die Edition' of Dark Souls for the PC, Artorias of the Abyss eventually came to consoles as its own DLC pack. It's best played during a Dark Souls playthrough, and blends brilliantly with the Dark Souls plot. Gameplay-wise, the DLC offers some of the greatest and toughest boss fights in the whole series, but where it really shines is in the story, which is among the most heart-rending in the game. It sees you traversing the abyss to take on the demonic Manus, and along the way you need to get past the tragic bosses of Sif the giant wolf and the eponymous Artorias - whose stories will pluck at even the hardiest gamer's heartstrings. The original Dark Souls was arguably the peak of the Souls series - Bloodborne included - blending excellent storytelling with the intense gameplay of the main game. Artorias of the Abyss fleshes out the experience brilliantly, and even though it doesn't do anything 'new' as such, it remains one of the most memorable DLC packs ever.
