10 Greatest Ever Video Game DLC That Didn't Steal Your Money

5. Blood Dragon - Far Cry 3

Yes, yes. It may be a 'standalone' DLC that has absolutely nothing to do with the main game, but that technicality won't stop this colourful, campy piece of content from making this list. Blood Dragon plays out very much like the base Far Cry 3 game itself, albeit overlaid with neon pinks, blue and reds that make it instantly captivate anyone with any feelings of nostalgia towards the 80s. Topping off the retro appeal are pixellated cut-scenes, and a hypnotic synthy soundtrack that makes Blood Dragon an oddly zen experience when you're not gunning down Tron soldiers or running away from neon T-rexes. Blood Dragon's popularity is a testament to how far a lick of paint can go in changing a game. Even though the mechanics are exactly the same as the main game, the presentation is enough to whisk you away to a strange and sentimental place of neon lights and VHS scan-lines - which endearingly overlay the whole experience.
