10 Greatest Heels In Video Game History
6. Shang Tsung - Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat's Shang Tsung looks like he stepped straight out of a WWE ring, so how could he not appear on this list?
An all-powerful sorcerer with a habit of shapeshifting and stealing the souls of those he defeats in combat, Shang Tsung delights in the suffering of others, and especially that of his arch-nemesis Liu Kang.
Though Shao Khan is arguably the series' most powerful villain, he can't really hold a candle to Shang Tsung's combination of cruelty and charisma, ensuring that while he's a raging psychopath, he's hella fun to watch.
It certainly doesn't hurt that the part was played with such unhinged glee by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa in the 1995 live-action Hollywood movie, enough that Tagawa was invited to portray the character in 2019's video game Mortal Kombat 11.
Who among us doesn't see Tagawa and immediately think the words "Your soul is mine!"?
Shang Tsung is a cunning, almost parodically evil bastard to rule them all, and he clearly loves his job. Even if we typically oppose him, the guy's enthusiasm for his line of work is infectious.
