10 Greatest Open World Games Of All Time

2. Grand Theft Auto V

Even all these years later, GTA V still reigns supreme as the best Rockstar open-world game.

Until Red Dead Redemption 2 went overboard with details that, frankly, nobody was asking for (okay, I'm sure SOME people were asking for a game with realistic horse testicle physics, I just don't see those people as the kind a triple-A publisher should consult) Grand Theft Auto V was the game that shocked the entire industry for years with the sheer amount of detail crammed into its world.

Clothes react realistically, all the way down to different shoes reacting to movement in unique ways, the AI on the NPCs is still unmatched by most of the industry to this day, you can even run into (and then murder) story-important NPCs - including the other two player characters you aren't controlling at that moment.

Going back to GTA V will always lead to you running into something you hadn't noticed before, some new little detail or tidbit that adds just that little bit more life into Los Santos. And all without horse testicles. Imagine that.
