10 Greatest Second Levels In Video Games
5. Venice - Tomb Raider II
Tomb Raider II's second level remains one of the series' most distinctive to date, as Lara's journey brings her to the gorgeous canals of Venice.
Taking Lara away from the familiarity of enclosed tombs, Venice is a sure breath of fresh air for the player, offering up a unique aesthetic which still incorporates all of the series' expected gameplay elements.
Venice is notable for allowing players to drive a speedboat - a first for the series at the time - which despite the obvious potential for jank, is far less of a headache to manoeuvre than you'd reasonably expect.
While perhaps not the most exciting level in the franchise, its presentation felt truly state-of-the-art at the time of Tomb Raider II's release - that water! - and remains a nostalgic delight today.
