7. Augus - Asura's Wrath
Angus from Asura's Wrath, to be blunt about it, is absolutely freaking insane! As you can see above, his sheer look would be enough to entice most people away, but he abounds here as Asura's mental mentor. He loves violence in all its forms, drinks like a maniac, and get this, is freaking
blind. He is a man - if you can even call him that - who savours the thrill of the battle over everything, even his own life, such that when he realises that his old protege is set to surpass him, he relishes the idea of having an epic showdown against him. Augus proves himself a formidable adversary for Asura, though in the end is defeated, when Asura stabs him, causing the blade to break, at which point, Asura grabs a fragment of it and uses it to slice Augus' guts open. But Augus doesn't just lie down dead, of course; he gets just he right amount of time to say how glad he is that his protege managed to succeed him, before Asura declares that he now has to walk his own path, good or bad, and leaves Augus to have his final moments. Though perhaps not the most nuanced character this year, he was certainly one of the most original, and probably the most insanely badass - and flatout insane - of the last twelve months.
