10 Hard-Earned Rewards Video Games Took From You Anyway
4. No More Romancing! - Star Wars: The Old Republic
Despite being an MMORPG, Star Wars: The Old Republic, like other big BioWare games, features a romance system that allows you to form lasting relationships with your companions.
Or rather, they would be lasting if it weren’t for the game’s DLC.
Knights of the Fallen Empire is the first of the two story-based DLCs for the Old Republic in which your character takes on a new emerging threat to the galaxy, the Eternal Empire.
The premise of the story sounds exciting, but what the game doesn’t tell you when you begin the DLC is that it’s going to take place years after the events of the base game, separating your character from your companion as you are frozen in carbonite.
Because of this, your previous romance that you were rewarded with after investing metric tons of gifts is lost. Your character starts anew, with new romance options, and your well-earned relationship becomes a thing of the past.
The game technically allows you to renew your old romance towards the end of the DLC, but it never mentions it to you, and by that point, you might have already moved on, ruining your chances of getting back together.
Well, that money you spent on gifts just went down the drain…
