3. Gale Is Hungry - Baldur's Gate 3
No one likes to lose their loot, which is why the most hated companion among Baldur’s Gate 3's fans is Gale the wizard.
Despite Gale being one of the rare kind-hearted people in your band consisting of a murderous drow, a selfish vampire, and the spawn of the literal god of murder (just to name a few), many players consider him to be the greatest evil to ever walk the surface of Faerun due to his one peculiar quirk.
Because Gale is infused with an ancient Netherese artifact that can potentially turn into a bomb, he has to consume other magical artifacts to stabilize it. Every time he feels explode-y, he asks you to let go of one of their magical artifacts so he can “eat” it, irreversibly destroying it.
The event happens only three times in Act 1, but since it can happen at random, Gale can ask you to give him some magic food at the least opportune time and potentially force you to give up a powerful enchanted item that you spent a lot of time and effort getting.
For this reason, it’s good practice to always keep some trashy magic items in your inventory. Otherwise, you might treat Gale to a painfully expensive meal.
