Without a doubt Smough and Ornstein is the most iconic boss fight in all of Soulsbourne and for good reason. The main concept of this fight is that it pairs two contrasting boss concepts. Ornstein is a lightning fast but not so heavy hitting boss while Smough is a slow moving brute with attacks that deal unbelievable amounts of damage.

This makes it a fight with very limited attack windows as they will constantly be around each other making it difficult to get hits in without receiving some as well. Once one of them is killed, the opposite one gets a buff to make the live one more powerful. Killing Ornstein first makes Smough's attacks deal slightly more damage because they will do lightning damage. If Smough dies first, Ornstein will grow in size and still move at the same speed making him very difficult to take down

The key to succeeding requires a lot of patience as you must make sure that they are separated before attacking. Keep your eyes on both at all times to make sure one doesn't sneak up on you and cause some unneeded damage. I recommend taking down Ornstein first because he is not as predictable as Smough is and he moves way too fast.

Try to dodge the attacks instead of blocking just so you can stay on the move as much as possible. Whittle down that health and the iconic duo will be no more.
