10 Hardest Video Game Enemies They Had To Patch

4. The Childe - Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact was something of an unexpected hit when it released in 2020. By combining action-focused combat, exploration heavily inspired by The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, gacha mechanics, and releasing on mobile as well as consoles, it became the RPG version of Fortnite. And it's still going strong.

The Childe (aka Tartaglia) is a boyish, easygoing boy with puppy eyes who also happens to live solely for the sake of chaos and violence. All he cares about is the thrill of the fight. So it's appropriate that he be a challenge.

While excessively difficult encounters are nothing new to online RPGs, context makes all the difference. The problem with The Childe was that he's a necessary encounter during the main story of the game, meaning a lot of people couldn't even complete Genshin's critical path - the entirety of which is merely the entry point for online games such as this. Not only could he easily one-hit-kill players even above the recommended level, but he was also crazy fast and the fight had multiple phases.

Many players started to suspect that he was there to make players purchase microtransactions to get stronger, prompting developer MiHoYo to scale him back significantly.
