Call of Duty: Modern Warfare takes the player to some of the deadliest battlefields in the world.

However, the game doesn’t need a hostile army equipped with state-of-the-art firearms to kill a careless player. It can secretly do it with a shelf as well.

Although there are many ways to die in Modern Warfare, the most humiliating one is definitely the hidden death in the “Hunting Party” mission.

At one point in the stage, as you and your team advance through an abandoned hospital, one of your teammates begins to push a shelf aside to open up the space to the next area.

You are supposed to wait for them to finish, but if you move to the back of the shelf as he is pushing it, the piece of furniture will actually crush you to death!

The death is obviously a deliberate choice by the developers, as it even comes with a mocking game over message instructing you on how to dodge, because you clearly don’t know how to avoid getting in the way of heavy objects.

This said, these types of environmental deaths rarely happen in the game, and you wouldn’t expect a slow-moving shelf to be more deadly than Zakhaev and Makarov combined.
