7. Mimics Dark Souls
Dark Souls is infamous for its challenging, unforgiving combat in a bleak and bewildering setting. From the tight corridors of the Undead Burg to the bright heavenly vistas of Anor Londo, every inch of Lordran is filled with danger. The only chance of survival in this desolate land is to upgrade your character, and the fastest way to do that is with better equipment. Now imagine that the game left untold treasures scattered around the map for the player to loot, enabling them to venture deeper into these treacherous lands. Now instead, imagine some of the chests would straight-up eat you. Mimics are dastardly creatures that disguise themselves as chests to lure in unwary adventurers. Once theyve been exposed theyll reveal their gangly limbs as they kick, stomp and chomp at their chosen victim. Along with their terrifyingly disjointed laugh, these creepy mimes are the worst possible encounter when you think your safe. Although theyre not too difficult to kill, every veteran of Dark Souls can tell you the first time they were chewed out by a box. Just be careful in Sens Fortress, okay?
