10 Hated Video Games That Broke Fans
3. No Man's Sky
When Sean Murray revealed his space-travelling survival game, No Man's Sky, he declared it would be the biggest video game ever. Considering his little project boasted 18 quintillion planets, it didn't sound like an exaggeration.
Because of how mind-bogglingly infinite Murray's work sounded, No Man's Sky swiftly became the most hyped non-franchised game in modern times. People were so desperate to play it, the game sold 500,000 pre-order copies and the developers received death threats when it was delayed. Celebs like Elon Musk and Steven Spielberg showed their support for Murray and were among the first people to play it.
The build-up was so crazy, No Man's Sky didn't feel like a video game - it felt like an event destined to change the course of history.
At least, it would've been if No Man's Sky was any good. Just because the game boasts a gazillion planets doesn't mean it's enjoyable. Most players found hopping from one world to another to another to another to be astronomically tedious and monotonous.
Even though updates made the game feel like... y'know... a game, players quickly grew bored of No Man's Sky and switched it off before giving the updates a chance.
