10 Heartbreaking Video Game Deaths You Were Powerless To Stop

Lee's death scene in The Walking Dead is a real tear jerker. After playing as Lee for four episodes of the episodic adventure, no one was expecting him to get bitten at the end of the penultimate episode. With Clementine missing and most of the group already dead, the clock is ticking and Lee has no choice to push on to try and save Clem.

There's nothing you can do to stop Lee's inevitable doom. You can even cut his lower arm off in an attempt to fight off the infection, but it's too late. The final episode sees Lee go out on a high note, stopping at nothing to save Clem. In the end he's able to succeed, but that leads to one of the most difficult to watch video game deaths.

Watching a dying Lee give his final piece of advice to Clem as she begs him to get up and keep trying is heartbreaking. It's a true credit to the performances from the actors as well as the writing that the scene is so effective, making almost anyone who played it tear up.

It truly was the pinnacle of Telltale's storytelling.
