10 Hidden Dialogues In Video Games

7. Calendar Man's Promise - Batman: Arkham City (2011)

Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham series is the pinnacle of superhero gaming experiences, and part of what makes it so memorable are the fantastically original interpretations of some of the Dark Knight's classic foes.

The character of Calendar Man is a perfect example of this: once a silly and ineffectual villain, now a truly fascinating paragon of calculated psychopathy.

With an eerily soft-spoken voice, Julian Day relays stories to Batman of his past killings while locked in the Solomon Wayne Courthouse of Arkham City. Visiting on specific holidays will invite new dialogue from him: everything from Valentine's Day to Thanksgiving.

But if you want a real secret, one that went undiscovered for so many years that Rocksteady eventually gave in and told us about it, you'll need to set your console's date to 13th December, 2004. The date that Rocksteady was founded.

"Well, well, well," he'll say as you walk in. "And on today of all days."

There's no real 'story' to this one, for Calendar Man is addressing Batman directly. He takes a nostalgic look at their early careers, only to end with the chilling message:

"I was there at your beginning, and I will be there at your end."

And, if you look closely at the final cutscene of Arkham Knight...he is. Creepy.
