10 Highest-Rated Video Games On Metacritic - Ranked

8. Perfect Dark

Metacritic Score: 97

GoldenEye might have pioneered first-person shooting on consoles - along a truly experimental local multiplayer mode that literally had never been done before - but it was Perfect Dark that ushered in the millennium with the finest shooting Rare has ever put together.

Rolling together the base feel of GoldenEye but speeding it up, adding a co-op campaign, bots to the multiplayer for larger scale skirmishes and letting you get your hands on even more satisfying weapons, many of Perfect Dark's high scores come from it being the premiere first-person shooter on the market.

You have to remember this was a time before Halo and Call of Duty, though what Rare accomplished was one of the most recommendable and simply playable games of all time - one that's worth a blast today, if only to see the refinement of first-person shooters on console thereafter.
