10 Hit Video Games That Were Totally Critic-Proof
4. Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games
Mario and Sonic are two of the biggest gaming mascots ever and they finally came together in 2007's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.
This collaboration did not go over well with critics. Many of them were unimpressed that the first time the Mario and Sonic franchises came together was in an Olympics game as opposed to a platformer that they're both known for.
The criticism of the idea aside, reviewers still felt the game had issues. Multiple reviews noted that the controls were unnecessarily complicated for a party game. Also, a good deal of the events in the game were labelled as being too similar to each other by critics.
A collaboration of two classic franchises was too exciting to be hurt by negative reviews as the game sold five million copies in just its first three months.
