10 Hit Video Games That Were Totally Critic-Proof
5. Enter The Matrix
Many of the issues critics had with Enter The Matrix stemmed from it feeling rushed. A need for it to be released around the same time as The Matrix Reloaded could be the explanation for the game feeling incomplete.
The unfinished nature of the game was clear with the number of glitches that reviewers pointed out as it launched. Awkward animations, sound cutting out and console crashes were just some of the bugs Enter The Matrix released with.
While the cool action sequences displayed in the Matrix movies seem a perfect fit for a video game, Shiny Entertainment clearly struggled to incorporate them as reviewers found the gameplay to be generic and repetitive.
In the first week of release, Enter the Matrix already sold one million copies and would go on to sell over five million in its lifetime. Clearly releasing in conjunction with The Matrix Reloaded helped the game tap into the hype surrounding the movie and avoid being hurt by the critical backlash.
