The appearance of this game on this list is a spoiler in and of itself, so sorry in advance for this vintage reveal, but one of your own dang characters in Heavy Rain is the very killer you're hunting for.
Despite taking control of Scott Shelby and having him help in the investigation of the identity of the Origami Killer, he's actually the very man you're looking for, collecting evidence to cover his ass rather than to help the affected families as he so posed.
You're a real piece of sh*t, Shelby, I'll give you that.
In essence, Heavy Rain has you playing as the killer without you ever realising, and not by active choice, either. Setting you up to uncover secrets, do right by the world, and generally good cop the situation to stop a serial killer, finding out one of your trusted circle - and by extension, yourself - are not who you thought is a gut punch like no other.
Heavy Rain lets you be the killer alright, but that doesn't mean you want to be.
