10 Horror Video Games That Let YOU Be The Killer

5. Left 4 Dead 2

Dead By Daylight
Valve

Zombie games so often are about trying to survive indefeasible hordes of zombies that it's easy to become lost in the routine of stab, shoot, run, but Left 4 Dead 2 offered a refreshing take on the genre that has remained strong ever since release: stab with katana, shoot with submachine gun, run screaming into zombie waves to smash them in the face with a guitar.

A small distinction, but a solid one.

Taking control of the infected in a versus battle, Left 4 Dead 2 lets you use those gnarly undead special abilities to batter your mates with that are just trying to survive the night.

Trying to score as many points as possible by dishing out the most damage, you take on the role of the zombies for one round, and swap over for a second, so have to be ready for whatever undead tomfoolery you're dishing out to be returned in kind as soon as the next section starts up.

Honestly, you never get to have any fun as a zombie normally, so this being a game mode at all is a rare treat.
