1. Dead Space 2 - Ubermorph

If you thought the Regenerators from Resident Evil 4 were creepy yet tolerable because they could be killed, then the Ubermorph is going to upset you.

Introduced late in the events of Dead Space 2, this unrelenting monster has a trick up its sleeve: it can't be killed. Sure, Isaac can freeze it in time where it stands, cut off its limb and leg it after temporarily disabling it. But rest assured, it will be back.

And it does come back, usually when you least expect it.

There's no hollower feeling than thinking you've felled a beast, only to open a door and see it [presumably] grinning at you, in an "Yeah, I'm still here" manner as it marches after you. Again.

It took many a player by surprise, after the game makes such a big deal of its decapitation model to ensure things are dead, or properly dead, whatever.

So when this regenerating mess of limbs chases you through the later chapters of the game, it ramped the tension up somewhat. Considering Dead Space already had a wealth of nasties in its ranks already, the Ubermorph was a fitting namesake.

Until you showed it who its biggest fan was...
