10 Horror Villains That Don't Stop Chasing You

7. Call Of Cthulhu (2018) - The Shambler

Adding a beast from the Cthulhu mythos might feel like having John Merrick in an Ugly Contest for easy winner, but it's not as simple as that.

For you see, a lot of the author's monsters are more the subliminal or psychologically fear inducing sort. Well, except for Cthulhu himself, obviously. He's all that and massive.

But the Dimensional Shambler from 2018's first person horror title is the winner here for one simple reason: you cannot fight it.

Any game that removes any chance of standing your ground already makes it much worse, as you have to steel your resolve and heroically run away. Worse still, you're in a room chock full of various knives... and you can't use them on it either.

Instead, you have to find the right one and stab the painting that it's crawled out of. All without being seen, as it's a one-hit death if you're caught.

If that weren't enough, you can only hide in certain places for so long, so you cannot rely on waiting for it to pass for an undetermined amount of time.

That Lovecraft, man. What an imagination...
