10 Hotly Anticipated Open-World Games Coming In 2016

9. Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PC, PS4, XBO)

The fact that Kingdom Come raised over $2 million on Kickstarter suggests that gamers aren't put off by the idea of a medieval-themed RPG that does away with all the sorcery, witchcraft and other supernatural mumbo-jumbo we've come to associate with the genre. Kingdom Come is an open-world game set in a real historical time and place - the central European kingdom of Bohemia in the 15th century - where you are a blacksmith's son who ascends through through the feudal hierarchy to eventually play a big part in shaping the political landscape of the region. The first act (out of two) doesn't take place on a huge map by today's standards (16km sq.), but what's contained therein looks fantastic - a lively land filled with peasants, villages, and castles where major battles take place throughout the game. It also promises one of the most realistic open-world experiences around, with a gritty physics-based combat system based on actual sword-fighting techniques, and survival gameplay that requires you to eat, sleep and drink to stay healthy.
