Likelihood: 8/10

When Crackdown 3 was shown off last year, many people in the industry expected to see it hit shelves before the end of 2016. However, since then the game has gone completely dark, with only a few updates trickling through from Microsoft HQ and no sign of a release date in sight.

However, considering Microsoft’s plan to release Project Scorpio in 2017, it makes sense that they’d be saving Crackdown and giving it the extra time it needs to ensure that the company has a cracking launch title come this time next year.

It makes sense for the game itself too: we were told that the city destruction aspect of Crackdown 3 was only possible because of Microsoft’s cloud technology, so the added power of the Scorpio will more than aid the developers in fully realising their full explosive vision.

With Gears 4 hitting this year and Halo 6 still a while away yet, it only leaves Crackdown 3 in play to be the first major system seller for Microsoft’s big new console.
