10 HUGE Video Game Cliffhangers That Meant NOTHING

Golden Sun follows a quartet of magically-attuned beings called Adepts who travel the world to stop the spread of a dangerous magic called alchemy. In the end, the heroes learn to use the alchemy to restore the land and thus, bring peace to society.

But in the threequel, Dark Dawn, the world is endangered by a new threat called Psynergy Vortexes. These energy fields appear randomly across the globe and begin feeding off magic. Believing this calamity can be reversed by stopping an upcoming eclipse, our heroes embark on a new adventure. After defeating the baddies and celebrating, all seems well as the credits roll. In the final 30 seconds, the characters return home, only to see they have failed in their mission since a gigantic Psynergy Vortex is looming over their heads.

But since Dark Dawn never got a sequel, this plot point has been left unresolved. What makes it more frustrating is that the game NEVER explains what the Vortexes are or where they came from. And because there is no word about a future instalment, it looks like we're never going to.
