The quintessential godfather of video games, Pong was the first ever mainstream gaming experience to ever receive wide-spread publicity, essentially becoming the catalyst for every new release we have today. But as you can see from the above image, the title doesn't exactly provide the most exciting gaming experience outside of its own time, and considering how complex games like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Skyrim are today, there have been games-within-games that are more technically challenging than the original Pong. That's part of the charm if you can give it a chance, because understanding how the industry evolved from such a simplistic ping pong simulator to today's ridiculously deep and complex releases is incredibly important to video game canon as a whole. While it might be primitive in this day and age, can you imagine playing a new piece of tech as monumental as the first video game along with the rest of the world? Exactly.
