What Is It?
Following on from the divisive - but mostly positively received - Heavenly Sword, Ninja Theory are back, mixing third-person action combat with an unprecedented level of cinematic realism in terms of facial animation. Honestly I think they'll struggle to hit the penciled in 2016 release date currently attached, but stranger things have happened.
Why Should I Care?
That facial tech I mentioned? It's pretty revolutionary, mainly because it allows for a one-to-one capture between actor and rendered character. Ninja Theory showed this off earlier in the year, having their actors go through a scene in real time, only for the characters on screen to match everything beat for beat.
Assumedly it allows for a more cinematic story to be told, with emotions coming through on the characters' faces as though they were real people. We've seen this sort of thing in the likes of L.A. Noire before, but if the team can build on Heavenly Sword's third-person combat and succeed where that game somewhat stumbled, it'll definitely be one to watch.
