10 Immortal Video Game Moments You'll Replay Forever
6. Running Through Racoon City (Resident Evil 2)
Whether you only pop Resi 2 into that creaking old PSOne/PS2 to laugh at the stilted dialogue between Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, or you just want to shoot some zombies for a while, it's well-worth taking another trip back to Raccoon City.
The opening moments of Resident Evil's sequel go under the microscope here. Specifically, it's that first panicky realisation that the cut scene has ended and those zombies climbing out of that truck's fiery wreckage want blood. Time to skedaddle, and do so quickly.
Dashing through Raccoon's streets towards the asylum of the police station without having to fire one single bullet (apart from on that bloody bus) is one of gaming's defining moments, and it'll never get old despite fixed camera angles or pixelated faces.
This is what a zombie outbreak should feel like. There's tension, you're outnumbered and the flesh-devouring ghouls in pursuit promise death should they surround you. That's Resi, and it's even more captivating than the original game's opening mansion sequence.
