10 Impactful Moments That Made Gamers Cry (With Joy)
8. The Giraffes In The Last Of Us
Due to the post-apocalyptic nature of Naughty Dogs magnum opus, The Last of Us isnt exactly brimming with moments of respite. However, after hours and hours of battling through the overbearing dreariness the game throws at you (especially a particularly haunting series of event that occurs about half an hour prior), the titles horror is balanced out with a pure moment of joy. Walking through the overgrown ruins of Boston, your companion Ellie notices something in the distance, taking off after it. Naturally, you assume its something terrible and your parental instincts kick-in, chasing after to her to make sure shes not getting herself into trouble like always. However, when you actually reach Ellie it isnt another horrifying scene you stumble across, but one of the most awe-inspiring events in the whole game. In a small moment of quiet, you both look out to the ruins of Boston, as escaped giraffes go about their day, completely oblivious to the horror going on around them. Its a brilliant moment of levity in an otherwise soul-crushing experience, and one that'll last as long as you like until you make the choice to break the animation and press on.
