10 Impactful Moments That Made Gamers Cry (With Joy)
9. Emerging From The First Dungeon In Oblivion
While open world RPGs had wowed players before, nothing had ever felt quite as epic as making your way out of the first dungeon in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Starting out as a prisoner, the first hour or so of the game is a claustrophobic and intimate trawl through the prison underground, barely seeing anything other than small enemies likes rats and spiders. However, eventually you get to a sewer passageway that leads out to the wide world of Cyrodiil, and you're suddenly thrust into Oblivion's daunting yet epically next-gen open world. With amazing graphics for the time and the option to go literally anywhere in the map, taking in the scenery after emerging from the prison sewers stands today as one of the most impressive gaming moments ever. While Fallout 3 mimicked the trick in a similar way, it didnt feel quite as fresh as the first time players experienced the sheer scale and awe of Oblivion.
