7. A Major Face Reveal (Doom Eternal)
The rebooted Doom series, beginning in the late 2010s with Doom 2016, gave the bombastic FPS franchise a new lease on life. One thing it went in on was the anonymity of the legendary Doom Slayer, keeping the hulking brute masked and establishing him as a walking, barely talking force of destruction. He didn't need character development or emotional complexity, just an arsenal of weapons and players willing to blast everything away.
However, he couldn't stay masked forever, and while you'd have thought his face reveal would be a monumental moment for everyone to see, it was instead packed away in Doom Eternal's DLC.
The debut of the guy's stoic mug came in the Ancient Gods expansion, which saw him battle an unmasked carbon copy of himself, before eventually taking off his own helmet and giving players a peek. Some loved this decision, while others hated it. But one thing everyone can agree on is that having such an important reveal happen in a story DLC is wild.
At least he's now proudly showing off his features in Doom: The Dark Ages for everyone to see.
