10 Important Video Game Plot Twists Barely Anyone Saw

Outlast 2, like its predecessor, pits you against a selection of horrifying villains who hunt you ferociously and blast you with jump scares. One of the freakiest is Val, a psychotic monster hellbent on bringing the Anti-Christ into the world. She's the leader of a Satan-worshipping cult known as the Heretics and revels in all things debaucherous. 

But Val hides a secret that very few will notice. 

This creepy antagonist has a distinctly androgynous appearance. However, one particularly muddy and memorable scene shows her off in the nude with what appears to be a female presenting body.

Despite this presentation, the main antagonist of the game, Sullivan Knoth, refers to Val with he/him pronouns. This could be written off as a mistake or one-off, but another document labelled 'Val's Secret' within The Compound does the same. 

Piecing this information together with analysis of her body in the mud scene establishes that Val is not cisgender and could be a trans woman or intersex, something only those who put the clues together would know. 

Well, Val, the murder, vile acts, and legitimate attempts to end the world are pretty damn awful, but at least you're being true to yourself.
